In its annual report, Finanstilsynet presents key aspects of the activities and tasks carried out in 2023.
The annual report has six chapters describing the various aspects of our activities and responsibilities. In Chapter I, ‘Report by the Chair and the Director General’, Board Chair Finn Arnesen and Finanstilsynet’s Director General Per Mathis Kongsrud present an overview of Finanstilsynet’s supervisory activities in 2023 and its social mission. Chapter II, ‘Introduction and main figures’, provides details on Finanstilsynet’s strategy and management, administrative tasks and key figures for the organisation.
The most comprehensive chapter is Chapter III, ‘The year’s activities and results’. Here, Finanstilsynet reports on planned and completed tasks in 2023 based on its strategic goals and governance indicators. Chapter IV, ‘Management and control of Finanstilsynet’s operations’, includes a description of prioritised tasks, such as the digitalisation project and streamlining measures. There is also an account of the Board of Directors’ work.
In Chapter V, ‘Assessment of future prospects’, Finanstilsynet points to the risk of financial instability. Crisis management and prevention also cover digital vulnerability. Other topics found in this chapter are artificial intelligence, climate risk and sustainability and consumer protection. Digital restructuring processes, environmental considerations and a challenging market for consumers place demands on providers of financial services and users of the services and require that Finanstilsynet’s operations are risk-based and effectively organised within the scope the laws and regulations it manages.
Chapter VI, ‘Annual accounts’, presents Finanstilsynet’s annual accounts.
In February, Finanstilsynet published brief reports on its supervisory activities in 2023 in the various supervised sectors. The Office of the Auditor General audits Finanstilsynet's accounts.
